False
By the time you're thirsty, you may already be dehydrated.
So even though you may not be thirsty, you may be dehydrated.
The colour and quantity of your urine are better indicators
of whether you're well hydrated or not. Dark, scant urine
is a sign of dehydration. Light coloured urine and going
to the washroom frequently are both good signs you're getting
enough fluids. If you take vitamin supplements your urine
may be dark, so in this case volume is a better indicator
than colour.
To remain well hydrated, drink at least 6-8 cups (1 1/2-2
litres) of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages such
as juices and soups each day. If you're active you may even
need more fluid than this. For a change, try juice spritzers
by mixing orange or cranberry juice with soda water. Remember
that coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages do not hydrate
you well.
